History Of Kavalappara Ariankavu

Kavalappara,is the heart of valluvanad,a small village with lot of historical valued place situated in Shoranur Municipality,Palakkad District.One of the main festival in malabar is Ariankavu pooram with celebration of 21 days,its very rare festival with Tholppava koothu ( art of ramayana story) starting with birth of Sreerama(King of Ayodhya) and ending with Pattabhishekam (its a ceremony of selecting next king) after the death of Ravana(King of Lanka).This is the only temple to show the beautiful cultural art tholppavakoothu to the devotees.

Kavalappara kottaram(palace) was ruled by Mooppil Nair family around 900 years ago,Kavalappara swaroopam was originated during the period ruling of last perumal(its a name of family,ruled Venad Swaroopam) Rama Varma Kulasekhara Perumal (AD 1090 to 1102 )..

Earlier Kavalappara swaroopam was situated in east,Kaniampuram thodu to west,Ongaloor maadu and south Bharathapuzha to north Mundakottu kurissi.After the place of Mundakottukurissi was ruled by zamotiri raja(calicut).There was 96 desham(place) included in this swaroopam.One of the famous moopil nair was Cl.Appukkuttanunni Mooppil Nair.
